Dear Colleagues, |
 |
It gives me immense pleasure to
write this message for the website of the SAARC Surgical
Care Society. Established in 1996, it has been the
aspiration of the founders of the SAARC surgical care
society to share common goals, talents and resources among
the surgical fraternity of the SAARC region. We have one
sixth of the world’s population with a common cultural,
socio economical background as well as disease patterns.
Whilst trying to achieve excellence in the art and science
of surgery we should not forget the basic surgical problems
faced by a multitude of our people. Through our common
efforts, it is our intention to provide practical,
|
sustainable and yet affordable
surgical solutions to the common problems which affects the
majority of the population at large. Trauma makes up a great
portion of the surgical patients in our region, while
chronic wounds and osteoporotic fractures are amongst the
other challenges we have to face.
The Paralyzed and disabled due to surgical disease need our
attention and effort not only for definitive treatment but
also in order to rehabilitate and re-integrate them to the
society. In order to meet this challenge the concept of
Total Care as the theme was proposed during my tenure of
presidency.
This encompasses prevention, pre hospital care, definitive
care, rehabilitation and re-integration of the patient back
to his community. It is very encouraging to note that the
enthusiasm is surging among the surgical fraternity in
member countries towards the SAARC Surgical Care Society.
It is my fervent wish that SCS grows from strength to
strength so as to benefit the surgical patients in our
region. |
| |
Thanking you,
Sincerely, |
Dr. Narendra Pinto
